There’s a big episode of Gossip Girl on tonight.
The hit CW show creates more buzz and has more devoted fans (albeit a relatively small number of them) than just about any other show out there, so there was already talk of a spinoff last year. Now, that talk has resurfaced.
No flashing back to the ’80s is on tap this time, though. On Saturday Night Live this weekend, the cast parodied Gossip Girl … only without the sophistication.
Get ready for Gossip Girl: Staten Island!
Gossip Girl star Blake Lively handled hosting duties for the night, and appears in this parody as a girl from the S.I. Ferry who, well, let’s just say she’s trashy.
This might be very offensive to people who actually live on Staten Island, or non-snobs overall, but Jersey Shore is way worse. And is actually a real show.

The Gossip Girl cast has offered only vague details about her appearance, but Lady Gaga herself recently teased her upcoming cameo on the show next Monday.
“First of all, my sister’s a huge fan, and she’s 17 years old. She was like ‘Oh my God, you have to do it,’” she told MTV of her eason for appearing on the CW hit.
“And I’d seen it. It’s a great show.”
We doubt the cameo will feature Lady Gaga unmasked. Expect elaborate costumes – and not your standard run-of-the-mill musical guest star appearance.
“I hate most TV show performances, because they kind of come in out of nowhere,” she said. “It has nothing to do with the story and nobody cares.”
What does she have in mind instead?
Lady Gaga made sure her Gossip Girl appearance was unique.
Rather than showing up on the set for a day, doing her thing and going home, Gaga met with producers to ensure she could do a performance she loved.
“I was like, ‘Look, the reason I want to do this is because I’m trying to say something that is not exactly mainstream. So, if I can say it on your show, that would be, like, a real coup d’état for me as a performance artist.’”
Wonder what that could mean … that’s she’s a hermaphrodite?
Okay, that’s not gonna happen. But what she the result is a “crazy performance art” piece in which “I am the narrator behind what’s been going on with the Gossip Girl characters and make the song part of the moment.”
Now that should be something. Give her credit for uniqueness.

In case you hadn’t heard, there’s a threesome going down on Gossip Girl next week. Well, at least there will be if the episode ends up making it to air.
If the Parents Television Council (PTC) has its way, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) could fine the CW or yank the episode altogether.
The group has released an open letter to the CW objecting to the scene, which they have not seen, but are still calling “reckless and irresponsible.”
“Gossip Girl routinely depicts teenagers engaging in promiscuous and consequence-free sexual behavior,” PTC president Tim Winter wrote the CW.
He says the show is “now complicit in establishing a precedent and expectation that teenagers engage in behaviors … associated with adult films.”
If Gossip Girl is bad, being right can eat it! Our intel suggests neither Leighton Meester or Blake Lively will be part of the threesome (lame!) but we’re posting this pic anyway!
The PTC pleads to the show and its network to “ask yourself, how does airing this program serve your obligation to serve the public interest?”
Umm … the public is interested in threesomes? HELLO!?
FCC rules permit the government to remove programming deemed “unsatisfactory or unsuitable or contrary to the public interest.” Will it happen in this case?
Doubtful. The hype for the epsiode, “They Shoot Humphreys, Don’t They,” has been significant, it’s still Gossip Girl, and still the CW. How racy can it really be?
It should also be noted that the CW has not publicly responded to the complaint but leaked two sneak previews from the episode with no threesome teasers.

Unlike her TV alter ego, Blake Lively doesn’t party, get fake married, kill people, straddle her best friend’s boyfriend during bar stool sex or any of that stuff.
But when it comes to Gossip Girl fashion, she and Serena van der Woodsen mesh.
“I dress just like Serena!” the 22-year-old actress tells the November issue of Nylon. “I own half her wardrobe, so it’s far too similar to how I dress!”
She loves the oddity of looking like her real self, but being someone so different.
“I feel ridiculous at times with her, because I’m, you know, killing someone or marrying someone, but I look like me. I’m like, ‘Oh, this is absurd.’”

Having her character’s style be similar to her own isn’t something common for Blake, who is rumored to be getting engaged to Penn Badgley in the near future.
“I hide behind the character’s hair, makeup or clothes. If I can transform myself, people will believe that’s who that is. And I need to believe that’s who that is.”
One fringe benefit of trying out a character? Getting into new products that she might not try on herself, including her latest beauty obsession: press-on nails.
“They’re really amazing,” she says. That and free handbags that may fetch four or even five figures in a boutique. Talk about job perks. Some girls have it all.

What’s an NYU girl to do when she needs to impress her loyal subjects into anointing her queen? Well, getting Lady Gaga to play a private show would help!
That’s what Blair (Leighton Meester) does in an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl November 16. The pop star just filmed her performance on the CW drama.
Gaga will be performing her new single, “Bad Romance.”
“My little sister is the hugest Gossip Girl fan ever,” the dance-pop songstress, who joins Hilary Duff and Tyra Banks as guest stars this season, told People.

Many of the series’ fans feel like it’s been selling out a bit with the high-profile cameos and characters, but we doubt there will be much opposition to this.
Word has it that the show’s all-knowing blogger/narrator voiced by Kristen Bell will post a rumor about Gaga being a hermaphrodite. Just kidding. Probably.
