Alexander McQueen Fall 2010: The Finale
Posted on 15. Mar, 2010 by Tara Decoda in Design, Fashion
Right before grandiose designer Alexander McQueen took his life early last month, he put the finishing touches on what would be his final collection. His death happened in the midst of New York Fashion Week, with Paris Fashion Week right on its heels- and his team held a dignified and private presentation that would have (hopefully) made him proud:
About the collection, his right hand woman Sarah Burton said this:
“He wanted to get back to the handcraft he loved, and the things that are being lost in the making of fashion,” she said. “He was looking at the art of the Dark Ages, but finding light and beauty in it. He was coming in every day, draping and cutting pieces on the stand.”
The 16 outfits shown had been 80 percent finished at the time of his death.
The thigh-high boots with the leopard print platform, and this last dress with the fishtail “burst” is giving me LIFE right now! I would love to see someone rock this to the next Met Gala. Rihanna? Perhaps Amber Rose? Hmmmm.
