Travel In Style: Packing Efficiently
Posted on 14. Aug, 2010 by Tara Decoda in Fashion, Photo Gallery
The one thing all celebs do when they travel: they drag 10 suitcases through the airport for a 3-day vacation. No, it’s not for options. No, its not for style. And no, its not because they’re lazy (maybe). It’s simply because they’re not packing efficiently:
Outside of her 6-octave voice range, Mariah Carey is most known for her travel baggage. Traveling with about 23 bags per weekend, per trip, she is probably the heftiest celebrity packer. But you don’t have to travel like that, especially if you’re going on vacation! Vacation’s are meant to be enjoyed, do you really want to spend all your time un-packing, then re-packing? Didn’t think so.
The secret’s to packing efficiently, while still travel in style lay below. It’s about packing basic pieces, transitional pieces, and pieces you can mix and match? Perfect for the indecisive traveler!
Gap Cuffed T, $19.50
A basic white tee is a key piece in any respectable wardrobe. You can build pretty much any look around a basic white T; day, night, casual, dressy, you name it! This cuffed T from Gap puts a modern twist to the classic, with the stretched neck line, rounded bottom, and cuffed sleeves. You can rock this with layered gold chains and distressed skinny jeans for a sexy but casual day look, or tuck it into a high-waisted draped skirt for a sleek night look.
Sleeveless Cowl Front Pencil Dress, $50.55
The LBD, what can I really say about this that hasn’t already been said? You can bring this on pretty much any vacation, in any city, and it will make sense. It’s the universal language of style. Just like “no” means the same in every language, the LBD represents the same.
T-Bags Halter Maxi Dress, $206
70’s icon, the maxi dress, can never do wrong by you! Or better yet, on you. Perfect for a vacation; its casual, its breezy, its convenient, and not to mention super cute! On any given day, you can find yourself reaching for this option.
Jersey Panel Legging, $43.81
The legging is slowly but surely becoming an essential, even though I tried to fight it. Just like the basic white tee, you can build nearly any look around legging, no matter what. Dress it up, dress it down, where it to pick up the kids from school, or jazz it up and where it to sit front row at Fashion Week.
Marc by Marc Jacobs Belted One Shoulder Maillot, $85.20
A swimsuit, whether one-piece or two, is a must bring for any vacay! Like, seriously? I didn’t even need to say that. What I do need to say is that you absolutely don’t need to bring 15 of them! Three at the most, and if that.
Calvin Klein Burnout Cotton Blend Tunic, $55
A kaftan aka cover-up is also a must carry. Its usually used as a cover up for your swim suit, but it can double as a fun, carefree dress to wear in the vacation city of your choice while shopping for souvenir’s! Throw these on with super chic thong sandals and you’re ready to go. Now, make sure you get “My Cousin Went To The Bahama’s And All I Got Was This Stupid Shirt” shirts for everybody!
If you make to sure to pack these basic pieces, you’ll save yourself a lot of “what do I wear?!” moments! Nonetheless, you still have to pack your Sunday (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) best, but just make sure you have your key pieces!
