For a notoriously private guy, Brad Pitt surprisingly opened up a can of worms with his comments about his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston in Parade magazine.

Remarks the actress and her camp are said to have “gone ballistic” over.

Regardless of the Moneyball star’s intentions, saying he wasn’t leading an interesting or fulfilling life pre-Angelina Jolie, and that he was “trying to pretend my marriage was something that it wasn’t” reated a PR firestorm.

How did the former Mrs. Pitt react? “She was annoyed,” a pal close to the Horrible Bosses star says. “She thought that it was rude and inappropriate.”

Team Aniston angrily reached out to Pitt’s representatives, according to Us Weekly, and “They got his team involved and Brad was read the riot act.”

Within 24 hours, Pitt had surprisingly released a statement clarifying and lamenting the pretend marriage comment while praising his former spouse.

Jen “is an incredibly giving, loving and hilarious woman,” Brad swears.

Still, the Pitt source says, despite his claims that it was all spun wrong, “no one believes his words were taken out of context – he said what he said.”

Why say that in any context? Yhough Pitt is clearly happy with Angelina Jolie and their kids, “We think he’s jealous [Jen's] in love,” the source says.

No matter the context, it can’t feel too good to hear Brad brand her a mind-numbing bore and imply that his whole life with her was a lie.

Was it really mere thoughtlessness? Some insiders believe otherwise, that it’s killing Brad Pitt to see Jen and Justin Theroux so in love.

“Brad’s got a real competitive, vicious streak, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s jealous,” a Jen pal, who is totes a real person, says.

“Justin is everything Brad couldn’t be. He adores Jen; Jen is deeply in love with Justin. And she’d fallen in and out of love with Brad.”

“Truth be told, they were both bored. Jen saw Brad as a dull stoner. But Justin is a poet and an author and well-educated and amazing.”

Brad Pitt is in full-fledged movie promotion mode, but still finds himself fielding questions about his personal life – specifically select comments he made last week regarding his pretend marriage to Jennifer Aniston.

“That was never my intention for it to be spun that way,” he said of those who interpreted his remarks that way, insisting it wasn’t what he meant.

“People read things into it that just weren’t there.”

Saying he once used film to fill a void in his life, Pitt told Parade last week:

So basically, there’s no vigorous procreation plan taking place, it’s just something they’ve discussed. That’s not a misleading headline or anything.

Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston certainly are moving things right along. The duo are already house hunting together, according to reports.

The pair, who were spotted this week on a cozy date in London, “are looking for a new house to move in together,” an Aniston source dishes.

The Horrible Bosses actress must leave her Beverly Hills home, which recently sold for a staggering $38 million, at the end of the month.

The couple returned Thursday to Los Angeles from the U.K., where Aniston, 42, had been promoting her latest flick – with Theroux in tow.

They first stepped out together in May, and just last month, Aniston said: “I’m very happy. I’m extremely lucky, and I’m extremely happy.”

Theroux ended things with Bivens in March. He began dating Aniston after that. Yes, Bivens was still living at their NYC apartment in June, but Theroux was not. So they weren’t living together in earnest.

The source even says that Bivens “didn’t know Aniston was the catalyst” behind the split, the source says, “until now … it sucks when your ex dates the most famous woman in the world so soon after a breakup.”

That it does, we have no doubt. But he didn’t go public with Jen until very recently, he and Heidi weren’t married, and there’s no proof of cheating.

Somewhat unusual circumstances, but not home-wrecker material. There are some parallels here, but nothing like what happened with Brangelina.

Perhaps the tabloids should stick to making up flat-out nonsense, like the story about Angelina Jolie being an anorexic heroin addict. That was good!

The actress has been granted a restraining order against Jason Peyton, a man arrested after prowling around her Hollywood Hills house last week.

He had a sharp object and duct tape with him at the time … yikes.

Peyton was found on July 15, “laying-in-wait in a location he believes she frequents.” Aniston’s lawyer says he spent eight days trying to find her.

“Peyton is an obsessed, mentally ill, delusional stalker – with a history of violence and criminal stalking – who drove cross-country in his delusional ‘mission’ to locate and marry [Jen], with whom he believes he is in a relationship,” court documents say.

The stalker was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold and must stay 100 yards away from her home, places of work, vehicles, employees and reps.

He believes he’s related to Oprah, Jay-Z, Jennifer Lopez, Courteney Cox, Bill and Melinda Gates, President George Bush (both) and Donald Trump.

LAPD’s Threat Management Unit is involved in the case.

Sounds serious. Here’s hoping Jen finds comfort in the arms of new boyfriend Chris Gartin, or in the fact that she’s going to be a mom! Again!

Not unlike Life & Style‘s obsession with Kim Kardashian’s revenge body, OK! Magazine really needs to hire some new writers to think up fresh material.

This week’s cover story, regarding Jennifer Aniston becoming a mom – not just down the road, she is a mom, the mag boasts – may have been exciting.

There are just two problems:

1. It’s blatantly false.
2. They ran almost identical stories three times this year already, including one just a few weeks ago, and in both U.S. and international editions.

JEN’S A MOM: Awesome! Except she’s not, on any level.

This time, it’s rumored boyfriend Chris Gartin who’s made Jennifer Aniston’s dreams come true … since he’s got two adorable kids from his previous marriage.

OK! says that Jen loves his children, and that Chris may very well be “the right man to help Jen’s baby dreams come true!” So basically … she’s not a mom.

Seriously, come on guys. Do you think anyone believes this garbage at this point? Or that Jennifer Aniston is the only actress out there to fake impregnate?

Is there a new man in Jennifer Aniston’s life?

As in an actual new man, not just co-stars she’s supposedly friends with benefits with (Gerard Butler, Bradley Cooper) or ex-husbands she’s sneaking around with?

Think this is for real Think they’re a good match? How will he react to this week’s tabloid covers proclaiming that she’s having a baby? We can only wait and see.

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before. Actually don’t, because we know you have, probably several dozen times. But Jennifer Aniston is having a baby!

That’s how long and how far Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler have traveled together promoting The Bounty Hunter, and what the actress expects to get out of it.

According to the unintentionally comedic OK! Magazine, it was during Jen and Gerard’s stop in Madrid, Spain, that fans started buzzing about more than the film.

The gleam in Jen’s eye … her easy, confident glow … her left hand resting on her not-so-flat tummy … unmistakable signs that she is with child! Or just relaxed.

“Jen very much wants to have a baby girl,” a source says. “She had a heart-to-heart with friends and relatives and this is the year she’s going to be a mom.”

If that wasn’t proof enough, this cover will do it …

So who’s on deck to play dad? Gerard Butler! Jen not only “adores Gerry” but thinks “he’d make a perfect father.” This story is hilarious for several reasons:

• The carefully chosen language that never actually says Jennifer Aniston is pregnant (or even dating Gerard Butler). Oh, tabloid editors. Wordsmiths.
• The use of the word “confirmed,” in all caps no less. Thank you, OK. What is confirmed? That the report exists? It sure does … and applies to nothing! 
• The fact that Jennifer Aniston “baby news” has been done about 20 times, is obviously untrue, and lacks any credibility, yet they report it again!

Congratulations, Jen, on your baby with a guy who you merely starred in a movie with and flirt with sometimes, and who’s really dating Laurie Cholewa.

But is it all for show, or is there something there? Rumors flew once again after Butler was caught playing grab-ass with Jen while greeting fans in Paris, France.

In a Friday interview, Butler joked about his booty bust.

“I’m a bit of a bad boy,” the notorious playboy actor admitted, before demurring, “by the way, I’m still not sure my hand was really on her butt. I think that’s just the way the camera was angled … I actually haven’t seen [the photo].”

FRIENDS AND (MAYBE) THEN SOME: Where’s the other hand, G?

“If I was going out with Jennifer, I’d be more than happy to say I’m going out with Jennifer, but it’s just not true,” he added after being pressed further on it.

Yet a Butler pal counters that the flirty costars have been “hooking up for a while,” even if they’re not an official couple. So it’s that sort of arrangement. HOT!

An Aniston pal confirms that they slept together in Mexico at her February birthday blowout: “She would like it to be more, [but] they’re friends with benefits.”

Damn, Jen. You can’t give away the cow when … forget it. A rep for Aniston, meanwhile, says the “friends with benefits” label is “both crude and incorrect.”

So basically … no one knows. Probably just how they like it.

Jennifer Aniston may be back with Brad Pitt according to tabloid reports that are hilariously manufactured, but she is still Gerard Butler’s biggest fan.

In fact, she’s been praising her co-star in The Bounty Hunter so much, she’s fueling long-standing rumors that the hotties are more than just friends.

“We just had so much fun together you know. He’s just fun. Gerry’s the most unpretentious guy,” Jennifer told Access Hollywood in a new interview.

“He’s definitely a guys guy, but he’s absolutely the most lovely, sort of self-deprecating and just what you see is what you get,” she says of Gerry.

“We look at work the same way. We always have each other’s back.”

This fine publication spends absolutely no time talking about the star’s love life, opting to focus on her newly renovated Beverly Hills home instead.

There is this one line. According to the mag, the house “originally had his-and-hers baths, but Aniston turned the ‘his’ into a spa with a soaking tub.”

Way to stick it to men and embrace your single life, Jen! Although from what we’ve heard, Brad still loves her, so she may have to change it back.

Like clockwork, it’s the middle of the week, and that means a deluge of tabloid reports announcing the imminent split of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Shocking!

After a certain point, don’t they feel this damages their credibility a little bit? We realize they’re supermarket tabloids, but 40 weeks in a row of the same thing?

At least this week’s OK! bombshell has a slightly new twist: Brad Pitt still loves Jennifer Aniston, and can’t stand Angelina, but is conflicted because of the kids!

Despite “presenting a united front for awards season,” Brangelina’s relationship is dissolving, and friends say Brad is regretting ever leaving Jennifer Aniston.

Still, he’ll stay Angie for his children’s sake… BUT FOR HOW LONG!?

I STILL LOVE JEN, says a tabloid editor posing as Brad.

“Brad was very calm and mellow and gave a great, funny speech” at the Director’s Guild Awards, reports a source, adding: “He and Angie seemed very happy.”
